Italy Trip 2024 - Arrived!
We made it to Italy safely and smoothly! The only little hitch was two medical emergencies (other passengers) that had Margery spending much of the flight kneeling on the floor at the back of the plane assisting - all turned out well, both people are fine.
Our first two nights are in Ostia, near the large 1st century ancient port city of Ostia Antica. Tonight it was dark when we arrived, but we explored a little of the old city and the area around Castle Julius (1400s AD military outpost)…. And of course had pizza and Gelato. Excited tomorrow to explore the ruins and to see the remains of the oldest synagogue in Europe! The focus of our trip will following in the footsteps of Paul in Italy and becoming more familiar with the Roman world in which the early church grew.
Arrived in Rome, exited the Colosseo Metro station and Jacob was wowed!
